Taiwanese computing giant Acer paved a huge entry on Monday in a joint press conference hosted with Microsoft to announce a bunch of exciting new Windows 10 devices in Taipei, including its latest Aspire R 14 notebook and the Aspire Z3-700 portable all-in-one PC.

With an already-huge portfolio of laptops, tablets and convertibles, Acer has what it takes to provide the best user experience in an ever-expanding Windows 10 ecosystem, Acer’s Corporate President and CEO Jason Chen said in his opening speech.

“Using Windows 10, we can now deliver a unique and consistent experience across our comprehensive product portfolio, be it notebooks, desktops, tablets or smartphones, and empower users to do great things with more personal and human technology.”

According to Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s executive vice president of the Windows and Devices Group, there is currently 625 million hours of active Windows 10 usage in Taiwan, a figure that promises to grow exponentially as PC and mobile suppliers continue to churn out devices with the new operating system.

“With Cortana, the personal assistant that helps you get things done, and Continum, which enables Windows phones to act like a PC when paired with a larger display, are just some of the features that give users the best Windows experience ever,” Myerson said.

Acer’s smartphone guru ST Liew, who later presented a vivid demonstration of Continum using Acer’s Liquid Jade Primo, said the 5.5-inch smartphone with Windows 10 mobile can help enhance productivity and a PC-like experience for professionals.

“We see a movement in the way users use their handsets as digital content and entertainment devices,” Liew said.

As part of Acer’s main highlight during the Monday press conference was the announcement of its Aspire R 14 notebook and the Aspire Z3-700 portable all-in-one PC, a device that offers five hours of built-in battery backup. Both novelties provide Acer’s True Harmony Plus technology with Dolby Audio, and BluelightShield feature that controls blue-light emission from the screen to reduce eyestrain.

No word was made on the price of the Aspire Z3-700. However, its Aspire R 14 will be available in North America in late October with prices starting at US$699, and in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) regions with price tags of 799 Euros.
